2019 LA zoo lights map

This was the last of the map that I had, so please excuse the little folds on the map. Very tiny map only opens horizontal and total of 6 pages.

On the Cover

On the Cover of this map its a tiger and the tiger is made out of lights. This is a light show so there is bunch of lights almost everywhere in the park for this Christmas and Holiday Times. Also keep in mind that this lights are available during night time and at this time the animals are asleep. Because the animals are asleep you will not see any of the animals since its dark and there asleep. You may possibly see few animals, but may just be sleeping. Keep in mind to not flash your phone or camera lights as it may disturb the animals.

Santa Clause

As I’m opening the map I see that Santa Clause is also going to be at the zoo for pictures. Photos with Santa Clause seems like its an additional fee, but I think its well worth the price. This photos are great and memorable and also your visit to the light show helps to support the zoo. Check out the website for more information.

Little History

Before this lights were inside the zoo, they were outside the zoo. Yes, back in the days many years ago, near the forest like streets by the zoo, the lights were being displayed. When the light show was outside the zoo, its was a drive thru event and a long road of lights. This drive thru event was free and usually packed with cars one behind another, bumper to bumper. I guess as time went by, the Zoo decided to make this light festivals inside the zoo where they could add Santa Clause, cool treats and activities. However, this transformation from drive thru to inside the zoo came with a cost. So as the drive thru used to be free, now as its inside the zoo, you need a ticket to enter.

I attended the drive thru light show many times because it was free and fun activity to do. If I ever find any pictures that I took, I will soon add them here. I still have the camera I used during those times when I took the photos, but I have to look for the chip that was inside the camera which I just may not find it.

Which is Better

I really think the Lights inside the zoo is better, because it requires a ticket to enter. Purchasing a ticket only helps to feel better about the animals and the zoo. Also, I think walking and exploring is better than just driving thru, but at the same time I love drive thru events. All together I think It would be better if it had a minimal version of the drive thru plus the full version of Lights inside the Zoo. This way both combined would give a one full spectrum Light experience.
