“You are a product of your environment.
So, choose the environment that will best develop you toward your objective.
Analyze your life in terms of its environment. Are the things around you helping you toward success – or are they holding you back?” – W. Clement Stone

My Thoughts:

I think Clement is trying to say that you become what you are surrounded by. If you are surrounded by helpful people, you will become helpful yourself. If you are surrounded by negative people, then you will become negative too. However, I really think that no one can change who you are. Your surroundings are really who you are. Kind of tricky, but it does make sense.

You are What You Want to Become

If you want to be a skateboarder, you are going to surround yourself with skateboarders. You’re not going to hang out with people who are boxers or basketball players. You will need to look for skateboarder friends, so you guys can ride and do tricks. Just the same with all other careers. A basketball player is going to want to hang out with other basketball players. Same with baseball players, soccer players, and all other sports.

Think About It

For the meantime, take a minute and look at the people you are hanging out with. Think about what outcome are they providing to you and towards your career. Are they helpful to you and are they providing positivity or negativity? This are the type of questions you want to think about.

If you are surrounded by negative people, you may want to consider hanging out with positive friends. However, it’s not as easy as you may think it is. Sure, it’s a hard process, but at the end of the day, think about you and your career. Then think about our partner’s career.
