“We are not afraid to follow truth
wherever it may lead,
nor to tolerate any error
so long as reason is left free to combat it.”
– Thomas Jefferson

My Thoughts:

This quote by Thomas Jefferson seems a bit confusing. As it’s talking about truth, I think it depends on the person. For instance, some people believe in Jesus Christ, and some don’t. This said, I think that many people are afraid to follow the truth. I also believe that most people are afraid to tolerate with error. As if they rather be right at all times than to be wrong. This are common behaviors by individuals.

Confused

I’m a bit confused with the last line of this quote. I think it is trying to say the reason is not free to combat it. I’m not sure what it’s meaning with “so long as.” It seems a bit confusing, but I’m sure the meaning is stronger than it seems.

Truth

The truth is everywhere, we just need to believe in it. Most people are afraid of many things and truth sometimes is obvious. If it’s truth than its true and if it’s not than its false. Possibly, as simple as it may be, it is by far the most challenging things to accept in life. I think even false is true as we believe that it’s false. It is weird to describe it, but it is true that its false.

Error

When it comes to error, most people ty to flee from it. An average person is expecting to be a perfect example of who they are. I find this wrong as we need to pay attention to the spirit. But this is just how people are. Therefore, look at the bright side of errors and see what can be glooming from it instead of the error itself.
