For many years The Academy Awards has recognized and awarded many great actors and actresses. Actors wait anxiously for a moment of glory and recognition for their role in the movies they star in.  Winners of the Academy Awards are granted with a beautifully crafted Oscar.  Adrien Brody a new comer received a well deserving Oscar for his role in The Pianist.  The Pianist is an interesting film about the Jewish Holocaust.  The movie takes the viewer back in time where the Germans tortured the Jews to their death beds.  In the Pianist Adrien Brody merits the award for best actor for his brilliant talent, and emotions as Wladyslaw Szpilman.

Adrien Brody’s gifted fingers key the piano powerfully taking his audience in a journey through his emotions.  The character Wlasyslaw Szpilman’s talents give depth and atmosphere for the depressing historic movie.  The actor’s depression, anger, and happiness are all stored in the keystrokes of the piano.  When Szpilman is separated from his love of music; the pianist’s necessity for the piano is shown through his remarkable acting ability.  The actor’s separation is devastating and makes him delirious to a point of the actor dreaming and praying to be calmed by the beauty of the music.

The actor goes through a rollercoaster ride indicating the characters feelings in the scenes of the film.  Adrien Brody’s figurative facial expressions in the movie moves the audience to tears as viewers feel the pain and sorrow he goes through in every passing moment.  The characters devastations and parting from his family are depicted in the actor’s movements and tiresome appearance.  The characters struggle of loss and little hope of staying alive are exposed through the tone of his voice, as he struggles to speak, to find some form of help.

Adrien Brody is an easy-to-read actor who lets his audience get a feel for his emotions at any giving moment.  The Academy Awards is just a piece of the puzzle he received in his role as WS.  It is safe to say no other actor could have taken this role as successfully and effectively as Adrien Brody did.

Adrien Brody role in this film was one that cant be replaced. Every scene from every face expression to emotion this movie wouldn’t be the same without him. The film came out on the year 2002 and it was directed by Roman Polanski.

Some Quotes from the Film

Wladyslaw Szpilman: I don’t know how to thank you.
Captain Wilm Hosenfeld: Thank God, not me. He wants us to survive. Well, that’s what we have to believe.

Wladyslaw Szpilman: It’s an official decree, no Jews allowed in the parks.
Dorota: What, are you joking?
Wladyslaw Szpilman: No, I’m not. I would suggest we sit down on a bench, but that’s also an official decree, no Jews allowed on benches.
Dorota: This is absurd.
Wladyslaw Szpilman: So, we should just stand here and talk, I don’t think we’re not allowed to do that.

Wladyslaw Szpilman: Where are we going?
Mother: Phhhhh, out of Warsaw.
Wladyslaw Szpilman: [confused] Out of Warsaw? Where?
Regina: You haven’t heard?
Wladyslaw Szpilman: [exasperated] Heard what?
Regina: Haven’t you seen the paper?
Wladyslaw Szpilman: No!
Regina: Ah, where’s the paper?
Halina: I used it for packing.
Regina: [incredulous] Ah, she used it for packing.
