“The moment you start seeing life as non-serious, a playfulness, all the burden on your heart disappears. All the fear of death, of life, of love – everything disappears.” – Osho

My Thoughts:

Possibly this can make sense and feel like you are more alive. But it’s not easy step to take life not seriously. There is so much we need to accomplish and get done that it is more serious than it seems.

Government

Looking from the outside point of view we are controlled by the government. We all have tasks that we need to do for the government. We have to pay rent and live somewhere so we don’t become homeless. Why? Because they make it seem like it’s wrong to not have a home. It’s as if you are forced to work to pay to live somewhere. Therefore, I could say that life is serious as there is a lot of responsibilities with it.

You can’t build a nest somewhere and live as if you own it. Couple weeks or months later the city will have it removed. On top of that there are no bathrooms to go to. Basically, if we take life as a joke, it appears to me that there are consequences that we got to pay for. For this reason, it is more serious than it seems.

Osho

On the other hand, what I think Osho is trying to say is that we need to treat it as it’s not serious. Make whatever is serious into a non-serious point of view. At the end of the day, what is serious that really means anything. Either way, we got to live and grow old. Also, what Osho might be referring to is that what is serious is just an illusion. Everything is designed to be the way it is, and we need to look at it as non-serious.
