“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I hold that the more helpless a creature the more entitled it is to protection by man from the cruelty of humankind.” – Mahatma Gandhi

My Thoughts:

This can be true just by comparing it to hunting rules and regulations. For example, some countries your allowed to hunt wildlife, while other countries only limited animals you can hunt. Just by some of this hunting rules you can tell just how great one nation can be. I think even catching fish should be stopped and not allowed by all countries and nations. I mean what’s the point of catching fish anyway? killing the fish and destroying the ocean is all that takes effect when catching fish.

Nations

Nations should gather and have rules that stop hunters from killing animals. Many hunters leave deathly traps in mountains and forget about it. The hunters leave and the traps stay, only days later a deer gets caught in the traps and dies a slow death.

Anyway, just the way the hunting is organized by the country can be enough to judge its moral progress. Another way is to look at the animal shelters. How well do these shelters treat the animals? Also, what do the shelters do to animals when they are not adopted? All these factors can determine the greatness of the nation.

Yes, I do have a very warming heart for animals, and I do believe they can be treated better. There should be more rescue teams out there to rescue animals.

One time I called the animal rescue in Los Angeles and told them about a hurting Raccoon. I told them the animal is alive but looks hurt at the side of the street. They told me they can’t do anything about it. Actually, to be exact it could have been a possum, because this was long ago and can’t remember if it was raccoon or possum? But I was disappointed because the recuse refused to help the animal regardless of what type of animal it was.
