“The early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.” – Willie Nelson

This is one of those quotes that you just hear often as people say when they like to do things earlier. First time I came across this saying was when I was at work, I told my friend why he likes the early shift? He said, “because the early bird gets the worm.” I told him that its really just the same thing because the 2nd bird is going to get the worm too. His response was that the early bird gets the worm sooner and gets it out the way. I said, true, but at the end of the day it’s still out of the way.

Preference

In conclusion, there really the same thing as both birds get the worm by the end of the day. Sooner or later, it all just depends on the persons interest. Some people have that personally they want to get the job out the way, so they can go and enjoy the rest of the day. Others, have other things to do or lifestyle that makes them function at work during later times. Regardless what, there is no right or wrong, it’s just a saying people have the habit of saying.

If you ask me, I rather eat the cheese than the worm so doing shifts in the afternoon works best for me.

If I really had to choose who wins, I guess I’ll go with the bird. Because, some birds eat mouses, but there are no mouses that eat birds. Birds are predators to mouses as hawks, owls, and many wild birds prefer to eat this mouses. So, the bird may eat the mouse, but we are humans, and our lifestyles are just different. Now I’m thinking of eagles in my mind.
