“The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won’t.” – Henry Ward Beecher

(My Thoughts:)

Let’s first figure out what perseverance and obstinacy means according to the dictionary.

  • Perseverance – persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.
  • Obstinacy – the quality or condition of being obstinate; stubbornness.

Now, it is clear that you most likely would want to be like Perseverance over Obstinacy.

Challenges

We need to open our minds to challenges and accept that as those are what we need to conquer. For example, if you are going to school but are afraid of learning than it is time to do just that. Basically, take the challenge of learning and prove it wrong by actually learning and showing that you can do it. This world wouldn’t be where it is if we didn’t accept challenges and proved it by dominating it.

Reality, nothing is really hard in life and it is just that we haven’t learned it yet. If you were to learn something that is hard than it is no longer hard as you know it very well. For example, math might be the most challenging problem to solve. However, once you have learned the method to solve it than how hard can it be. Sure, sounds easy saying it as I’m struggling with math myself. But once I learn it than how can I say it’s hard when I know how to solve it.

Real Challenge

For me, the hardest challenge in life is to maintain a great body weight. I tend to be overweight and find it super hard to lose just 10 pounds. A real challenge for what I would like to say 70% of all USA would be to be in proper weight size instead of overweight. Sure, is hard as every year the overweight scale just gets higher and higher but with dedication I think we can all do it.
