Has your dog ever limped and you were unsure what is going on? If so, then it could be a Cranial Cruciate Ligament CCL tear and it is common in dogs. Read this to the end because here I’m going to talk about How I cured my dogs tear of her cranial cruciate ligament in just 4 weeks.

Vet Gave Us Two Medications

So, randomly my dog starts limping on one of her legs and in couple days the limp becomes worse. At first we thought maybe she slightly hurt her leg and its going to get better. But, the opposite happened, in 5 days she couldn’t walk anymore it got that bad. So as it got to that point we took her to the Vet and they told us that she has a tear of her CCL which means cranial cruciate ligament. The vet said that our dog is in pain and they gave us two options:

  1. do surgery or
  2. heal with medication.

Those are the two options they gave us. We choose option 2 because our dog is a senior and with surgery she may not make it through. So, we had no choice but to choose option 2. What I didn’t like is that they told us that my dog possibly wont make it with surgery. Yet, they acted like they wanted us to choose the surgery because it is about 5 thousand dollars, it seemed like they just wanted to make some money.

So, the next day I scheduled an appointment with the surgery doctor to talk about the outcome and in more detail about the surgery. As we are talking it made more sense to not do the surgery and as I declined the surgery, they wanted to do more tests. They said She may have cancer and its better if we do some tests which costs couple hundred dollars I think. So, we noticed they just want to make money and they want to scam us. I talked to other vets and learned more about this CCL. And, its pretty common, and surgery is not needed for CCL.

Anyway, the two medications we walked away with are:

  1. Tramadol 50mg and
  2. Grapiprant 20mg chewable tablet

My Cure After I Learned More About CCL

So, As I did my research and talk to many Vets and even Human Doctors I learned more about CCL and this is the way I cured my dog in just about 4 weeks.

  • As prescribed by my Vet I gave my dog the Tramadol & Grapiprant medications (until it finished.)
  • I started giving fish oil that I purchased from Petco.
  • I started giving Joint Supplement such as: NaturVet Joint Health Advanced Care Level 3.
  • I also started giving daily multivitamins for senior dogs.

As I gave my dog all this supplements she slowly started getting well again. In the process I learned that she doesn’t like Fish Oil so I’m giving her fish skin for pets instead and she loves eating those. Also, Her GNC Senior Formula multivitamin has some fish omegas inside. Also, I stopped giving her the joint supplement because as she has improved I don’t think she needs it anymore. And, her multivitamins has some joint stuff inside as well.

I’m keeping track of her progress and this was a learning experience for me. Dogs don’t need operation for this as my dog improved so can yours with proper nutrition. And have your dog be at rest for the meantime so the leg can heal. If both legs are bad you can try to get a dog wheelchair.
it can take weeks to months for this to heal it took my dog just about 4 weeks.

Vets Just Want to Make Some Money

Some vets offer operation, if you refuse operation then they want to do is check if your dog might have cancer. But, they just want to make money. Try this treatments that I did, your dog should be fine. This is also common for dogs, but as I’m learning it appears they are
making this a big of a deal now then they did before.

Observe your Doggie Surroundings

Observe your dog, block your stairs so your dog doesn’t try to go up stairs as this pressure can make it worse. Also if your dog goes underneath your bed, then add bed raisers on the bottom of your bed. With bed raisers your dog will go underneath your bed more comfortably without crunching with its legs.
