“If I feel depressed I will sing.
If I feel sad I will laugh.
If I feel ill I will double my labor.
If I feel fear I will plunge ahead.
If I feel inferior I will wear new garments.
If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice.
If I feel poverty I will think of wealth to come.
If I feel incompetent I will think of past success.
If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals.
Today I will be the master of my emotions.”
– Og Mandino

(My Thoughts:)

All of these feel very easily said, however not so easy to actually feel that way. When something is really bothering you, there just isn’t a very quick solution as it can take some time to heal. Healing is only time and time is something that can take forever depending on the problem.

Emotions

If you really want to master your emotions, you need to accept to go through it. For example, let’s say you have anxiety attack which means you have to face it. By facing it, you are going to have it and that’s the only way you can actually master it. Otherwise, you are going to be just lagging the healing process. What I’m trying to pinpoint is that some emotional problems aren’t as easy as just mastering it. Some problems are challenging and that is what you have to accept to master it. In other words, you need to accept the challenge and keep going forward by not giving up.

Og Mandino has a very nice saying here, but some issues just are too challenging to conquer. Sure, with time it is all possible, but it feels very hurting too. This said, don’t quit and keep trying because with time you can master your emotions.
