“Fear condemns and love forgives. Forgiveness thus undoes what fear has produced, returning the mind to the awareness of God.” – A Course in Miracles

For the most part love and fear and like opposite to one another. Love makes everything pleasing and nice and lovely, while fear destroys life and the wellbeing. Well, it may just seem this way looking at it from the outside, but everyone has their own way of handling both fear and love.

However, what I think this quote is trying to say is that if you live in the life of fear, forgiveness will override the fear. Not exactly fear, but what fear has produced. For example, let’s say being in a fearful state of mind has produced anxious to the person, forgiveness will override that. By doing so it will bring back the person to the state of mind that is awareness of God.

If love forgives, then the root to fear to heal is love. If love comes to you, then it will forgive and heal the fear including the damages it has produced. Therefore, love will eliminate fear and bring a person back to love. This sounds simple, but I really think that love is one of the hardest things to grasp in life. It’s not something like food or an object where you can want. Love is more like a feeling that is unexplainable but feels just so overpowering when you have it.

Also, this is love towards yourself and not towards a specific person. Having self-love is something people don’t know they have until they lose it. It’s as if a hidden love not thought about or really cared or focused on when it’s in your hands.
